Unless you?ve been hiding under a rock, you know the Summer of 2013 movies will reunite The Wolfpack, pit Kaiju vs. Jaegers, send Star Trek into darkness, bring the son of Krypton back to the big screen, send Wolverine overseas, team up Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, show us how great Gastsby looks in 3D, bring the White House Down, and tell us exactly what Elysium means.

Here are a ten movies that may not be on your cinematic radar.

?

Now You See Me

Starring: Jessie Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, and Morgan Freeman.

Directed by: Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans)

Eisenberg and crew play a group of magicians looking to pull off a bank heist.Oh, and they?re magicians. A very non Hulk Mark Ruffalo is on their heels It looks like 2008?s 21 with a pinch of Oceans 11. I?m not sure I love the title, but the trailer has me interested.

Before Midnight (2013) Ethan Hawk Juli Delpy

Before Midnight

Starring: Ethan Hawk, Julie Delpy

Directed by: Rickard Linklater

Independent film?s favorite couple, Jesse and Celine, is back together again in Before Midnight. If Before Midnight is anything like Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, it has the chance to be the surprise hit of the summer, as well as a nice alternative to a big summer blockbusters movie.

The East

Starring: Brit Marling, Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page

Directed by: Zal Batmanglij

After the surprise hit, Sound of My Voice, Marling is back in The East ? a gritty film about a radical activist group looking to take down corporations. The East is labeled as a political thriller, but if there is too much violence the film may suffer from the recent bombing in Boston. I?m hopeful The East will be this summer?s surprise political thriller.

The Iceman

Starring: Michael Shannon, James Franco, Ray Liotta, Winona Ryder, and Chris Evans.

Directed by: Ariel Vromen

Before he?s bent on destroying Earth as Zod, ?Michael Shannon stars as hitman Rickard ?Iceman? Kuklinski. Kuklinski?s in The Iceman. His story should make for a fascinating movie about family, choices, and consequences. Shannon delivering the same crazy he has on Boardwalk Empire will make this movie a must see.

maniac

Maniac

Elijah Wood as a creepy mannequin store owner turned serial killer. I?m in.

onlygodforgives

Only God Forgives

Starring: Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringaram

Directed by: Nicolas Winding Refn

Gosling teams up with Refn (Drive) for another brutal cinematic masterpiece. Refn has directed three films I love ? Pusher, Bronson, and Drive ? only God Forgives has a good chance to be the fourth.? The film?s red band trailer gives a glimpse into what the film has in store. Gosling and Refn may have another classic on their hands.

July 19

The-Worlds-End

The World?s End

Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman

Directed by: Edgar Wright

Pegg, Frost, and Wright are making another sci-fi comedy (Take my money already). The World?s End is in the same vein as fan favorites Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. If it ain?t broke, don?t fix it.

Aug 23

You?re Next

Starring: Shami Vinson, A.J Bowen, Joe Swanberg

Directed by: Adam WIngard

A horror-comedy that looks like a mix between Home Alone and Scream might be the best horror movie out this year. If You?re Next scares the way it should, wolf mask will be a big hit this Halloween.

Aug 23

fruitvale

Fruitvale

Starring: Michael B Jordan, Octavia Spencer, Chad Michael Murray

Directed by: Ryan Coogler

The tragic death of Bay Area teen Oscar Grant is told through the lens of director Ryan Coogler in Fruitvale. Michael B Jordan (The Wire, Friday Night Lights, and Chronicle) has been getting a lot of praise for his lead role, not to mention the positive reviews the film got from Sundance. I?m sure Fruitvale will be a satisfying but a emotional?roller-coaster as well.

July 26

The Kings of Summer

Starring: Nick Offerman, Moises Arias, Alison Brie, Megan Mullally

Three friends decide to live off land for the summer, leading to a lot of adolescent hijinx. This summer, The Kings of Summer will fill all your quirky comedy needs.
